Chevalier is a film based on the life of the great French composer and virtuoso violinist, Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges. It’s in cinemas from 9th June 2023.
The Black British Classical Fountain believes that Chevalier is an important film on many levels, not least, because it’s brought back to life significant parts of French, and black history which have been deliberately erased. And while it sets the history books straight, equally, it should have a positive impact on the path going forward.
The BBCF met with Kelvin Harrison Jnr. (Chevalier) and Lucy Boynton (Marie Antoinette) spoke to them about the film.
